ABOUT PICK UP PLAYER
Pick Up Player is an app created to ease communication between players and coaches searching for players to pickup for baseball games. Our platform allows players to easily find games in their local area, and coaches to easily find players to fill their rosters. With Pick Up Player, it's never been easier to find a pick-up game and get in on the action.
Our Story
The Pickup Player app was created out of shear necessity, our founder, Pat Daugherty, saw a need in his own community and sought to fix it. His son was playing travel baseball and he quickly learned to be involved you had to do a lot of extra work. Most teams have the bare minimum of players but when someone is injured or busy the team suddenly must forfeit. To counter this teams are constantly looking for team members to fill in but how do they contact these players? In the past it was in small Facebook groups or by word of mouth. This excludes many eligible players. This also makes it difficult for players to fill their calendars as they do not know when teams need them and can make this community very hard to join. This is what the Pickup Player app seeks to solve. We are aiming for easy and safe communication for better teams.
Our app is sponsored by a larger contracting company, Mystic Spear. This project is small and grown from our hearts primarily created by interns from a variety of places. None of these interns had significant coding experience let alone from scratch! The app was coded 100% in Dart to enhance the cross-platform compatibility.
